Mac is a unique specimen of the feline family. He understands the things that humans do way beyond what a cat really should, and he's really a great companion if you can get past the fact that he's in constant need of attention. Oh yes, if this cat missed any sort of activity around the house then he'd surely come undone. He's not always obedient, but he knows when he's reached his limits so the situation is definitely tolerable. A lot of people say that cats never learn their names. That's not true at all.
I adopted Mac when I lived in San Diego. He was born in Kearny Mesa, and he was in a shelter with a big pile of other cats when I met him. He's the one who came to me, so he was the one. That was back in 2002 - wow, long time ago. He's 16 years old now, and although he doesn't jump into high places anymore, he's always been the same little boy over the past decade or so.
He's part of our family. The most annoying part of our family, but we love him no less.
